South Africa Collaboration on Promoting Nutritious Vegetable

One of Advanta’s core missions is engaging in public-private-partnerships (PPP) to support the expansion of government supported projects. Working alongside the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in South Africa, Advanta is working to address the largest challenges that farmers face with growing a range of vegetables. As part of the project, we supported the trials of okra, watermelon, baby corn, hot and sweet peppers, and tomatoes with over 100 farmers.

While there is significant interest by farmers in a wide range of vegetables, growers are cautious and lack the confidence to expand and grow without professional support. The collaborative program is working to ensure that growers can not only try new techniques, but also grow new crops to diversify their incomes and enhance their diets. During the span of the programme, over 100 farmers have already been directly been impacted by the collaboration.

The project with the Limpopo local government exemplify our belief in the power of partnership to reach more farmers with a strengthened offering, and enhance the reliability and sustainability of food chains as a whole.
